After 19 fantastic years as a staff photographer for Getty Images I have recently moved to take on a new challenge. I am excited to now be represented by and a director of Danehouse.

Danehouse is a personal and attentive photography company based in Manchester. We enjoy working closely with clients to produce world class sports and portrait photography for advertising, editorial, sports events, sponsorship and PR.

I bring 25 years experience in the industry with me and during that time I’ve travelled the world covering many major sporting events. These include Summer/Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, FIFA World Cups, UEFA European Championships, UEFA Champions League Finals, Rugby World Cups, the Tour de France and numerous Grand Slam tennis events. I’ve also found myself in some weird and wonderful places shooting sports as diverse as ice golf on a course 590km north of the Arctic Circle in Greenland, and horse racing on the frozen lake of St Moritz.

In addition to my editorial assignments I continue to be commissioned for commercial shoots in the studio or on location. These have featured some of the world’s most high profile athletes and sports personalities such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, David Beckham, Roger Federer, Wayne Rooney and Sir Alex Ferguson.

My work has appeared in publications around the world including Time Magazine, Sports Illustrated, L’Equipe, Stern, ESPN Magazine, Observer Sport Monthly, The Independent Magazine and Sport Magazine UK along with regular usage in many of the world’s leading newspapers. My images even appeared on Royal Mail first class stamps during the 2012 Olympic Games to commemorate the Great Britain Gold medal winners. This has to be one of my favourite usages.

Clients have included FIFA, UEFA, Nike, Adidas, Pepsi, Reebok, Umbro, Carlsberg and Volkswagen. In addition I have been a speaker for Canon at events such as the Focus On Imaging Exhibition in Birmingham and during the UEFA Euro2008 Championships in Switzerland, as well as contributing expert opinions to the Canon Professional Network website.

During my career I have received numerous accolades. These have included – Winner of the 2016 SJA Sports Photographer of the Year Award, Second place in the 2014 Sports Photo category at the POYi Awards, First place in the 2013 Sports Action category at the Press Photographer’s Year Awards, the European Photographer of the Year at the 2012 Getty Images Awards, First place in the 2010 Winter Olympics category at the POYi Awards, Bronze Award in the 2010 Sports Action Picture of the Year at the PGB Photo Awards, World Press Photo Award in the 2007 Sports Action category, SJA Sports News Picture of the Year 2006, Barclays Premier League Football Shot of the Season 2005/06, Nikon Sports Photographer of the Year 1998 and many Highly Commended and Honourable Mentions at the International Olympic Committee and SJA Awards.
